One Piece: Oda Might Have Revealed A Massive Secret About The Void Century

The Void Century is a massive talking point in One Piecewithin the Final Saga, and that is to be expected.

The Void Century is one plot point that fans have always wanted to know more about, and one that is directly linked to the One Piece itself. Fans know that this is one of the most important messages that Oda has to tell in the story, and most certainly, one that will be explored more as the story is driven forward.

One Piece chapter 1123 revealed quite a lot of exciting bits of information to the fans, and with that, fans also found out even more exciting things, such as major hints pertaining to what happened during and after the Void Century.

The Secrets Of The Void Century And How The Poneglyphs Carry Their Story

The Poneglyphs Were Carved Out To Remember History

The Void Century was essentially a 100-year blank during which a war was fought between the Ancient Kingdom and the 20 Kings, who joined together to form The Alliance. This alliance was incredibly powerful, and while alone, these Kings could not have even dared to fight against the Ancient Kingdom, together, they formed a strong enough group. Naturally, fans know that the 20 Kings were up against many powerful figures of the Ancient Kingdom, such as Joy Boy, among many others. Joy Boy was incredibly powerful, and his strength was such that the alliance that was created to fight against him was not able to do much at all. It is because of Joy Boy that the war lasted as long as it did, and as was made clear to the fans in One Piece’s Egghead Island Arc, the Void Century War ended after Joy Boy died.

As soon as that happened, the allies of the Ancient Kingdom likely gave up the war as well, and the victors were officially declared. They then went on to join their forces and created the World Government as fans know it. They took their place atop the Holy Land of Marijoa, displacing the Gods that lived at the top of the Red Line already, known as the Lunarians, which fans know King to be a member of as well. From there onwards, fans know that the World Government has ruled with an iron fist, and has gotten many countries to join their powerful alliance. While the Void Century certainly did end with the victory of The Alliance, it certainly did not mean that the Ancient Kingdom was utterly crushed.

Knowing that they would one day rise and fight again, the Ancient Kingdom left behind messages on Poneglyphs to tell their story to the future generations. They knew that this war wasn’t over, and that later down the line, it would be fought once again against the evil entity of the World Government, and freedom and liberation would be brought to all. This would have been impossible without Lily, who managed to spread the Poneglyphs to every corner of the world, keeping the message on them intact forever and giving hope to the Ancient Kingdom once again.

How Vegapunk Erased Created A Void Fortnight

Vegapunk Erased His Own Memory Of Two Weeks Recently In One Piece

All the Void Century information is not new to the fans at all. This is something that has been explained in the story over and over again, but, One Piece chapter 1123 introduced a very exciting plot point which now could potentially connect directly to the Void Century itself. In the recent chapter, fans got to see a Vegapunk flashback, where he finally figured out how York was the traitor. Essentially, Stella, Pythagoras, and Shaka, were the only ones with perfect alibi, and they started figuring out who the traitor was. It was Pythagoras who eventually figured out due to uneven synchronization that York was the traitor. From that point onwards, these three Vegapunks decided to formulate a plan that would allow them to protect the information and research that they had carried out.

If I’m going down, I’ll make sure the price is very high! – Vegapunk

Essentially, Vegapunk decided to record the message that was played at the end of Egghead Island Arc, and more importantly, he also went on to then erase his own memory. He left himself a note which asked him to trust himself. Vegapunk did not remember who the traitor was, because he had to sync back to Punk Records and had he not erased m his memory, he would have risked York finding out. Similarly, neither Shaka nor Pythagoras remembered the truth, and, with that, their memories of York being the traitor, as well as the research being leaked, and on top of that, the message itself being a thing, officially died.

This might not look big to the fans on the surface level, but it is absolutely massive and could hold a clue about the Void Century itself. Perhaps, the Void Century was carried out in a similar fashion.

The Erasure Of Memories Worldwide After The Void Century

The World Government Could’ve Erased Memories At The End Of The War

It is entirely possible that after the Void Century, the people of the world had their memories erased. It is incredibly difficult for people to simply forget what happened. Information passes down from one generation to another. There must’ve been historical texts and many other records that should exist in the world of One Piece. Comparing the world of One Piece to ours, fans know that information from a few centuries ago being present today is not much of a surprise. In fact, people even have records dating back thousands upon thousands of years. Even though some of these records might not be perfect, fans know that they exist in some way or form. For there to be absolutely no information about the Void Century even when there were many people who lived, especially Giants, who live for more than 300 years, is somewhat unreal.

Everything that we know from the last two weeks will be completely erased! – Vegapunk

Of course, there was a massive 200-meter flooding, and there are only a few individuals who survived, but, once again, those who did survive should have known about the flooding and passed down this information. At the same time, those who survived would also have remembered that there was a war that was fought. The entire world could not have been wiped out in terms of population, otherwise the world of One Piece would look very different right now. The only conclusion that one can come to is that there was a memory erasure. After the war was fought, there was likely a memory erasure carried out by those of the World Government, and it was because of that era that nobody really remembered what happened During this 100-year Void.

Given that Vegapunk was able to erase his own memory, and when that is coupled with the fact that the Ancient Kingdom has technology far more advanced than what Vegapunk could think of, one can come to the conclusion that they had the tools required for mass memory erasure as well. Of course, if these tools found their way into the hands of the World Government, then, perhaps, they could have utilized this on the entire world, forcing them to forget that the war ever existed, and, at the same time, that the Ancient Kingdom was a thing.

This could also explain why the Poneglyphs were carved out in the first place, because otherwise, nobody would remember the true history of the 100-year Void. This could be juxtaposed by Oda to Vegapunk’s note that he left for himself, and in a similar manner, Joy Boy and his allies would have left behind the Poneglyphs for themselves and their descendants to remember what happened and to fight back.
