The Gorosei, also known as the Five Elders, are incredibly powerful individuals who have played a significant role in the Final Saga of One Piece already. Fans do not expect them to be active players so early into the Final Saga, but the intensity of this particular segment of the story is such that big players have been called into action right from the very beginning.
Fans were utterly stunned when all the Five Elders were summoned to Egghead Island, and a battle for supremacy began. Of course, from the side of the pirates, this was not a battle they aimed to win. Their goal was to run from the island and head to safety. However, for the Marines and the Government officials, the goal was to eradicate all the Vegapunks and the members of the Strawhat Pirates. This was clearly a goal that would have been very difficult to achieve without the help of the Five Elders, and that is why they were summoned. As a result, my fans got a proper look at their powers and unique abilities, and more importantly, Oda might now have hinted at them having a special power that no other ability user in One Piece possesses.
The Gorosei’s Abilities
The Power Of The Gorosei Is Different From Regular Devil Fruits
The Gorosei have unique abilities that fans have never seen before in the One Piece world. For one, the fans know that the Gorosei likely do not have Devil Fruit powers. Although they do have abilities to transform into Yokai which resemble Devil Fruit powers a lot, these abilities are different. Fans might be confused about how they differ, but there are certain indicators that showcase the differences. When it comes to the similarities, fans know that their transformations are animalistic in nature and have three forms, which is a human form, a full beast form, and a human-beast hybrid form. This is very similar to the nature of the Zoan-type Devil Fruits that fans have already seen in One Piece.
It is useless!! These guys cannot die!! – Luffy
Furthermore, they also have black awakening clouds around their neck, which seems to imply that they do have abilities similar to the Zoan types. However, there are two key indicators here that separate them from regular Devil Fruit users. The first one is that Oda refers to them as Yokai instead of Devil Fruit users. Despite Oda giving them their own introduction box for their abilities, they weren’t said to be Devil Fruit users. The second is that they have the power of immortality. All the members of the Five Elders share this immortality, and regardless of how they are hit, they still manage to regenerate as if they were not even hit in the first place.
Even someone as strong as Luffy with Gear 5 is no match for these Elders in the sense that Luffy would eventually run out of stamina on the battlefield, while the Elders would be as fresh as they were when they entered the battle, despite being overwhelmed in the grand scheme of things. This clearly implies that they are not human, and at the same time, their abilities are not standard abilities that fans have seen in One Piece either. This already separates them from the other Devil Fruit users. However, there is more to it than just that.
Can The Gorosei Swim?
The Gorosei Might Be Unaffected By The Ocean
Fans might be shocked to know that the Gorosei might actually break yet another rule of Devil Fruits and that is being able to swim. Fans know that Devil Fruit users are hated by the sea. This was explained by Vegapunk in the Egghead Island arc. According to him, Devil Fruits are an unnatural way of evolution that is given rise to by the desires of humans. These desires are what go against the very laws of nature, and that is why mother nature punishes Devil Fruit users by taking away their ability to swim. However, this does not apply to the Elders necessarily. Fans have waited for a Devil Fruit user with the ability to swim from the very beginning of the series, and now, it might finally be here. While not strictly Devil Fruit users, they have all the abilities of one, along with the power to swim.
This was first hinted at in the recent chapter of One Piece, when Warcury jumped off the island in an attempt to destroy the ship of the Giants. Fans know that Warcury is a boar and he has no way to fly.
As such, he would essentially be jumping to his own death if he were to drown in seawater. Unfortunately, Emet punched Warcury back to the island, and fans did not get to see him land in the ocean. However, One Piece chapter 1121 might just have given fans another glimpse of an Elder drowning. This time around, it was Saint Saturn who had jumped on the ship of the Giants of Elbaf. Luffy, who was utilizing the power of Gear 5, combined with Bonney, who also tapped into Gear 5, and delivered an incredibly powerful blow to Saturn. Fans saw him being torn apart from limb to limb, and his pieces clearly fell into the ocean. Of course, one would think that Saturn has now been dealt with.
However, it might soon be revealed to the fans that Saturn is actually capable of swimming and that he can yet come back. If that truly is to be the case, then fans are going to see the Five Elders being held in a completely different light, and things are certainly going to get even more exciting in the Final Saga of One Piece.
The Five Elders Are More Dangerous Than Anyone
The Five Elders And Imu Might Be On A Completely Different Level
Taking into consideration all the abilities that the Five Elders have shown so far, it is easy for the fans to see that they are some of the strongest individuals in the entirety of One Piece. The Five Elders have incredibly powerful Yokai forms, and all their abilities are awakened. They possess incredible Haki of all three types, which has been compared to the likes of Shanks. At the same time, they also have the ability to regenerate from anything, and on top of everything, if the ability to swim is added to their already incredible powers, then they will truly be at the top of the chain in One Piece, with only the likes Nika and Imu being above them. Fans will soon find out more about the limits of their powers, and hopefully, Oda will showcase whether Saturn can truly swim or not soon enough.
Nothing works on them! It doesn’t matter, they’re immortal!
Right now, the Egghead Island arc is very close to its conclusion, and fans know that this story arc will soon confirm many truths about the likes of the Five Elders, as it officially wraps up. Fans only have to sit back tightly and wait for Oda to draw his incredible story.
