Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna had a whirlwind relationship that resulted in the birth of their daughter, Dream, but didn’t end with the couple walking down the aisle. After months of being on-and-off, Rob and Chyna finally ended things for good in 2017 with a climatic domestic violence incident and multiple subsequent lawsuits.
Despite the drama, their daughter appears to maintain a close relationship with her father’s family. So much so, there have been questions over whether Dream stays with Rob’s sister Khloe Kardashian full-time. Here’s everything we know about Dream’s custody situation.
In early 2022, Blac Chyna lost a $100 million lawsuit she filed against the Kardashian-Jenners, which essentially blamed them for the cancelation of her E! Network show Rob & Chyna, which was canceled shortly after her break-up with Rob Kardashian.
Though a jury may have eventually decided in favor of the famous family, it was a years-long case that requires months of court appearances.
The family reflected on how difficult the case was on their family during an episode of The Kardashians, and Khloe seemed to imply that she did a lot of caretaking for Dream, which was ironic given the ongoing situation.
“She’s suing us for over $100 million and we’re leaving our fate in the hands of 12 random people, what if they hate us?” Khloe told her sister Kim.
To this, Kim replied, “Hopefully they find people that just don’t know who we are.”
“Facts are facts; right is right, wrong is wrong,” Khloé continued. “I’m not worried about something I’ve done, I’m just saying it’s going to be stressful and annoying.” She then added, “While she’s suing us, Dream’s at my house!”
“Yeah, that’s what’s so crazy,” Kim responded.
Who Has Custody Of Dream Kardashian?
Dream is regularly included in family photos, proving she’s close to the Kardashian-Jenners despite their beef with Blac Chyna. The 5-year-old is often featured on Khloe’s social media accounts spending time with her 4-year-old daughter True. This has sparked questions about where Dream lives full-time, since she sure spends a lot of time at her paternal aunt’s house.
Even if Dream does spend the majority of her time at Khloe’s home, she’s not under her guardianship, as far as the public can tell.
Following their break-up in 2017, Rob and Chyna agreed to joint custody but had trouble sticking to the arrangement. This led to years of fighting, which was finally resolved in 2020 when they agreed to a new understanding.
As per the new agreement, the exes now share physical custody and Dream stays with them on alternating weeks. They agreed to split time on holidays and vacations equally, and both must be drug and alcohol-free while Dream is with them.
After Chyna Was Investigated By CPS, Rob Has Dream Most Days
Chyna may currently share custody of Dream, but her ability to parent has been called into question beforehand. In 2017, following their break-up, Child Protective Services launched an inquiry, though the case was later closed.
via: Twitter/XCPS was again reportedly investigating Chyna’s parenting in 2019, after multiple anonymous complaints were launched against her. Chyna’s lawyer Lynne Ciani released a statement saying the complaints were fraudulent.
“They were never in any danger and any reports to the contrary are entirely false,” the attorney stated. “Anyone who submits a knowingly false report to Child Protective Services may be subject to criminal and civil liability.”
Compared to the past, Chyna and Rob keep a low profile when it comes to their personal life. They often decline to comment on their daughter or their co-parenting relationship, but Rob didn’t hesitate to call Chyna out last year when she was reportedly seeking more child support.
In March, Chyna claimed on Twitter she had to sell three cars to support her children, claiming she didn’t receive child support.
Rob subsequently responded to a re-post of Chyna’s tweet to Instagram. He claimed that Dream is with him most of the time in addition to paying tens of thousands of child support monthly.
“I pay $37K a year for my daughter’s school. I handle every single medical expense,” Rob wrote. “I pay for all her extracurricular activities. I have my daughter from Tuesday-Saturday. Why would I pay child support lol.”
Tyga – who shares a son with Chyna – also made a similar remark, and even responded directly to Rob’s comments on child support.
“I pay 40k a year for my son school & he lives w me mon- sat. Why would I pay child support lol,” Tyga wrote, adding to Rob, “How u pay 3k less. Let me kno the plug.”
The month prior, Rob announced he was dropping a lawsuit he launched against Chyna over domestic assault following their 2017 break-up. He explained that letting go of the case was in the best interest of their daughter.
Rob and Chyna may split custody of Dream, but given his admission their daughter is with him throughout most of the week, and how often she’s featured on Khloe’s social accounts, it appears Dream is closer to her father’s side of the family.
