𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐠 – 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫

Draug is a Swedish folk horror film directed by Karin Engman and Klas Persson. Set in the Viking era, it is a blend of historical drama and supernatural horror, drawing on Norse mythology and folklore. The film immerses viewers in a dark, atmospheric tale involving ancient evils and mysterious disappearances in the wild forests of medieval Scandinavia.

The story takes place in the 11th century and follows Nanna, a young woman who is part of a group sent by the king to investigate the disappearance of a missionary in a remote, dark forest. The group is led by Hakon, Nanna’s adoptive father and a seasoned warrior. As they delve deeper into the forest, they are faced with mysterious and increasingly horrifying occurrences.

The group soon discovers that they are not alone in the woods. They are being hunted by something ancient and terrifying—a Draug, an undead creature from Norse folklore, believed to be the restless spirit of a Viking who guards their treasure and seeks revenge on the living. The closer they get to uncovering the truth behind the missionary’s disappearance, the more they are drawn into the dark and supernatural forces that haunt the forest.

As the group is picked off one by one, Nanna must confront not only the malevolent force hunting them but also her own mysterious past, which is intricately linked to the evils lurking in the forest.
