Among these characters, the most unexpected one is Buggy, the captain of the Buggy Pirates, who is also the leader of the Cross Guild. The Cross Guild has recently become active since Buggy decided to go after the One Piece treasure and claim the title of the Pirate King for himself. However, he and his guild are facing a big problem.

While Katakuri and the rest of the Big Mom Pirates are strong, they still need a leader to protect them and their territory. Thus, an alliance with the Cross Guild is the next best step for them. It would also benefit the Cross Guild, as they will not only get a big crew but also one of the Road Poneglyphs that the Big Mom Pirates have.
