This black and white optical illusion presents two very different animals. Whichever you spot first could provide a fascinating insight into the type of person you are – including whether you’re an empath or self-centred
Consider yourself an empath, or perhaps you’re not afraid to admit you’re a tad selfish?
Being an ’empath’ has become a bit of a buzzword in recent years, used to describe someone highly attuned to other people’s emotions – and able to experience empathy on a much deeper level. Empaths are more likely to be able to sense others’ moods and concerns, and may struggle themselves if someone they know is going through a hard time.
Others don’t tend to have this problem, blissfully unaware of those around them and only bothered about prioritising themselves. We’re talking about those that don’t leave the door open for the person behind, or only make a cuppa for themselves. But being self-centred isn’t always a bad thing, and can sometimes help people prioritise their own self-care and needs. If you’re not sure which of two best suits you, an intriguing optical illusion could provide the answer.
Which animal did you spot first?
Look at the black and white image above and say the animal you see first out loud. If you said a black cat, it is suggested you are an ‘inherently self-centred person’. According to reports, those that first see the cat do not like depending on others to support you and believe you can do most tasks better than others. But you also have a playful side, and tend be extremely popular due to your ‘bubbly’ personality. When it comes to curiosity, you’re the kind of person constantly driven to try new things and have new experiences.
Did you see the mouse first?
However, if you saw a mouse first (located in the centre, where the cat’s nose appears to be) your personality is probably the complete opposite. It is believe you’re a timid and reserved person who doesn’t trust people easily and are the text-book definition of an empath. Sound about right? Your cautious nature means you also notice the world around you with an unfettered view but, you’re that doesn’t mean you’re not tough and trustworthy individual. In fact, it is likely you will play a crucial part when people experience difficult life challenges.
Of course, optical illusions like this aren’t based on concrete science, but it can be a fun way to learn more about yourself and your friends.
