Student Rebecca McGonigle admitted she was glad that her family didn’t see the post and panic
STUDENT Rebecca McGonigle was flooded with congratulatory messages after a selfie looked like she was holding a baby.
Pals asked the 25-year-old if the newborn had a name, while shocked boyfriend Neil Pitman, 31, said: “What the f***.”
Student Rebecca McGonigle posted this photo on Instagram showing her legs pulled towards her chest – but it looked like she had a baby snuggled in a white blanket
Rebecca — who is doing a chemistry PHD in Glasgow — said she found it hilarious when she received comments from wellwishers.
She had taken a selfie sitting in her room on April 14 with her legs pulled towards her chest.
One exposed knee cap appeared to be a baby’s head and her white skirt looked like it was snuggled in a blanket.
Rebecca said: “The lighting was good so I thought I’d take a photo to post on social media and I just didn’t realise.
“Then a bunch of people started messaging me. I thought ‘what the f***?’ and wasn’t sure whether to delete it but I thought I’d keep it up because it’s funny.
“People were seriously asking if I’d had a baby. “I’m glad my family didn’t see it first and panic.
She eventually cleared up the confusion, posting: “THAT’S A KNEE.”
The post has been viewed more than 300,000 times, with one woman commenting: “Congratulations.”
Alerting her to the optical illusion, her pal messaged her: “I love you so much right, but [in] your Instagram post I thought your knee was a baby’s head and your skirt looks like a blanket.
“I did a double take and it really made me laugh.”
