One Piece: Are The Gorosei Imu’s Satellites?

The Gorosei, also known as the Five Elders, are some of the most important characters in One Piece, especially when one speaks of the Final Saga of the series. These are some of the most dangerous individuals to exist within the World Government, who fans considered to be just political figures for quite a significant portion of the story.

In the Final Saga of One Piece, it was finally revealed to the fans that they carried immense strength, and this has assigned an even more important role to them in the upcoming arcs of the series. Of course, it has already been confirmed that they are tremendously powerful. However, the source of their power is still a big mystery. Recent revelations in One Piece might just have indicated that the Five Elders are actually connected to Imu, similar to how Vegapunk is connected to his satellites.

The Gorosei – Servants Of The King of The World of One Piece

Gorosei: Yokai

Saint Topman Warcury: Fengxi

Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro: Bakotsu

Saint Marcus Mars: Itsumade

Saint Shepherd Ju Peter: Sandworm

Saint Jaygarcia Saturn: Gyuki

The Five Elders are some of the most powerful characters that fans got to see in the Final Saga. The very first of the Elders to be properly introduced in this Saga was Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. Saturn came to Egghead in an attempt to get rid of Vegapunk and back up the Marines. Given that he had scientific prowess himself, Saturn was an essential part of the group on Egghead, and he performed incredibly well, even better than Kizaru, in the battle against the pirates and the scientists. Saturn showcased his tremendous powers on Egghead by transforming into an Ushi Oni, or Gyuki, midway through the arc. His powers were absolutely sensational. Fans got to see him utilize the abilities of invisible damage, and the ability to freeze people in their places. He also revealed the ability to coat his body in venom, and shoot out mini nukes powerful enough to destroy large parts of islands. Saturn was clearly overpowered, but this was just an appetizer for the fans, because the remaining Elders showed up as well.

All cursed bloodlines will end right here on Egghead! – Saturn

Fans got to see all the Five Elders assemble on Egghead, and each of them showcased their incredible powers. For instance, Nusjuro showcased the power of a skeleton horse, while Mars showcased the power of a flying serpentine bird with the ability to breathe powerful fire. Meanwhile, Ju Peter showcased suction abilities using his sandworm power, and Warcury turned out to be extremely impressive with his boar strength and toughness. All the Elders were out of this world in terms of power, and their strength was shown to be in an entirely different league, especially because of their overpowered Haki.

Speaking of Haki, the Elders have all three forms of it. This wasn’t much of a surprise to the fans, especially because all the Elders are known to be Imu’s personal guards. The king of the world must have the strongest of Gods around him, and it makes perfect sense for them to hold the level of power that they do. Inadvertently, Oda also confirmed Imu to be a very strong individual, and that is largely because the people under him are incredibly powerful yet bow down to him.

The Bizarre Powers Of The Gorosei And Their Telepathic Connection

The Elders Can Use Telepathy

While the Gorosei’s strength was certainly immense, there was something off about them right from the get-go. Their presence was demonic in nature, and later on, fans were perplexed to see that Oda did not reveal any devil fruit abilities for them. Even their ability introduction card did not mention the Devil Fruit, but a creature in itself. Saturn, for instance, was revealed to be the Gyuki, instead of having the powers of a Gyuki Devil Fruit. This confused fans quite a bit. This, when combined with the fact that they had bizarre regeneration powers further solidified the idea that these were not normal devil fruit users.

For instance, every user of Yokai powers on Egghead, that is, the Elders, were able to regenerate from any damage dealt to them in an instant. Whether it was their body being reduced to 100 pieces, or decapitated, or cut up, it did not matter. They regenerated from any and all damage dealt to them. Even though Luffy was able to overpower some of the Elders, in the grand scheme of things, he ran out of energy long before them, and ended up losing the fights that he fought, in a way.

The Elders were even hinted to be capable of swimming despite having these abilities. While it wasn’t explicitly shown that they could swim, it was implied that they were not afraid of jumping into the ocean at all costs, which just goes to show that they might have yet another bizarre power. On top of all this, they were all seemingly linked with the power of telepathy. They could all communicate with each other and finish each other’s thoughts, which isn’t normal at all. This leads one to believe that the Gorosei might have some special powers after all. An even better idea is that the Gorosei are actually projections of Imu, just like the satellites are various personalities of Vegapunk.

Imu’s Reaction To Joy Boy’s Haki

Imu Was Hurt By Joy Boy’s Haki Despite Not Being On Egghead

One Piece chapter 1122 gave fans a glimpse of Imu, which further solidifies the idea among the fans that the Gorosei are actually different projections of Imu’s self. When Emet utilized Joy Boy’s stored Haki, it traveled all across the island and struck the Elders. The Elders were then sent back to the holy land of Marijoa. Although they were unharmed, Imu was able to feel the presence of Joy Boy’s Haki and fell to his knees, shaking from top to bottom. This leads fans to believe that because the Gorosei were the ones hit with Joy Boy’s Haki, it was transmitted to Imu, who then took the brunt of the damage and started shaking. This gives the idea more credence. However, it is not confirmed that they are actually like Horcruxes.

Emet, I’m going to seal the greatest of Haki inside of you! – Joy Boy

What separates Imu from Vegapunk is the fact that none of the Elders seem to hold a distinct part of his personality, which was the case with Vegapunk. Furthermore, what disproves this idea even further is the fact that all the Elders are actually part of the 20 Kings who fought against the Ancient Kingdom. Their family names have officially been revealed to the fans. Together, they form a big chunk of the 20 Families who formed The Alliance. The Ethanbaron family, the Topman family, the Shepherd Family, the Marcus Family, and the Jaygarcia Family are all parts of the royal families. This means that they existed before even the creation of the World Government and Imu’s ascension to the Empty Throne, which fans know wasn’t always the case.

Imu belonged to the Nerona Family, and before the creation of the World Government, he was a part of The Alliance as well. This means that he existed at the same time as these individuals did, which essentially takes the idea of the Elders being horcruxes and throws it into the bin.

This then raises the question of how they have these incredible powers. The answer to that cannot be provided at this point. However, what fans can say for sure is that their powers are connected to Imu. Perhaps, it was Imu who bestowed these abilities to them. That is precisely why they all seem to have awakened forms of their Yokai abilities. As far as their telepathy goes, it could simply be an ability similar to the Voice of All Things, which fans know shouldn’t be impossible to use the way they have. Their demonic abilities are certainly linked to Imu or provided by him.

Furthermore, if the Elders were truly projections of Imu, then, they would have taken severe damage and had a similar reaction to Imu himself, given that they were just lesser beings of the same body. When Imu fell to his knees, the Elders should have felt tremendous pain and damage as well. The fact that they were okay while Imu struggled just goes to show that they are actually different individuals.
