Eiichiro Oda Will Recreate Garp-Roger Like Team Up to Take Down Blackbeard: One Piece Theory

Eiichiro Oda might force two unlikely characters to team up against Blackbeard, who has become a huge threat to both pirates and Marines.

Eiichiro Oda loves creating unusual sequences in One Piece. He can even make the most unlikely rivals team up to defeat a common enemy. This has already been proven when Lucci and Kaku had to team up with Luffy and Zoro.

Not even in their wildest dreams could the characters have thought of teaming up with the others, but the threat of Seraphims was too big of a unifying factor. In the upcoming chapters of One Piece, we might find another unlikely duo who will battle against one of the biggest villains.

Under Garp’s instruction, Koby has grown to become a powerful Marine. His timidity is long gone, replaced with newfound confidence, though he is still a compassionate person. His exhaustive training sessions helped him develop superhuman strength and speed, and his improved combat abilities have been shown time and again.

After his failed attempt to capture Boa Hancock, he became a prisoner of the Blackbeard Pirates. In some of the recent episodes of One Piece, the struggle of his colleagues, as well as Garp to rescue Koby has been shown. It clearly portrays how important Koby is to his team and mentor. After his rescue, he is bound to feel the need to prove himself. And what better way to prove oneself than to behead the person who imprisoned you?

Koby might choose a similar path, and after training some more, his next target might be Blackbeard. His imprisonment at the hands of the pirate could have let him into some secrets, which might help him track down the pirate later. The question is, who among the two will survive? Will Eiichiro Oda make Koby a sacrificial pawn? Or will Blackbeard’s defeat happen by his hands?

Eiichiro Oda Could Recreate the Garp-Roger Team-up

Rather than sacrificing Koby alone in the face of Blackbeard, Eiichiro Oda could use another option. A fan theory states that Koby might team up with his childhood friend, Luffy. Luffy is the one who inspired Koby to become better for the first time. They struck a deep-rooted friendship right from their first adventure. But as luck would have it, both of them had different goals and ended up in completely opposite jobs.

But that doesn’t mean Luffy and Koby hate each other; they still have a great friendship but are just on different teams. So when a big enough threat arrives, they will be bound to leave all social conventions aside and fight alongside each other. This way, their chances of victory will also be raised significantly.

Garp and Gol D. Rogers, the two people who were supposed to be mortal enemies, had to call for a temporary truce just to defeat Rocks D. Xebec when he became a menace. Similarly, Luffy and Koby might gang up on Blackbeard. In fact, the real Blackbeard pirate was actually killed by a naval officer, so Eiichiro Oda might choose to include history in his story.
