The Lie is a psychological horror-thriller film directed by **Veena Sud**, based on the 2015 German film *We Monsters*
The story revolves around a teenage girl named **Kayla** (played by **Joey King**) and her parents, **Rebecca** (Mireille Enos) and **Jay** (Peter Sarsgaard), who are divorced. While driving Kayla to a dance camp, Jay picks up her friend **Brittany**. However, during the drive, tensions rise between the girls, and they stop by the side of the road. In a moment of impulsive anger, Kayla pushes Brittany off a bridge into a river, seemingly killing her.
In shock and panic, Kayla confesses what happened to her father, who, in an attempt to protect his daughter, decides not to report the incident. Kayla’s mother Rebecca becomes involved, and together, they hatch a plan to cover up the crime. As they lie to the police and Brittany’s distraught father, **Sam**, the lie begins to spiral out of control, creating a web of deception that draws them deeper into danger.
