FIA Issues official statement on Max Verstappen’s departure from F1

FIA Responds to Max Verstappen’s Hints at Leaving F1

The FIA has issued an official statement in response to recent comments made by Max Verstappen, in which the reigning champion suggested that he may leave Formula 1 if certain regulations, including stricter conduct rules, continue to evolve. Verstappen’s frustration was notably highlighted after receiving a penalty for swearing during the Singapore Grand Prix press conference.

The FIA addressed the situation, stating:“We acknowledge Max Verstappen’s concerns regarding recent regulations and appreciate his candid feedback. Formula 1 is a demanding sport, and we strive to create a balanced environment that upholds professionalism while allowing drivers to express themselves. The FIA remains committed to ongoing dialogue with drivers to ensure their voices are heard.”

Verstappen hinted at the possibility of stepping away from the sport, expressing his discontent with the growing restrictions:“When you can’t be yourself and have to deal with these silly rules all the time, it becomes tiring. I love racing, but if it’s no longer fun, there’s no point in continuing just for the sake of it.”

While Verstappen hasn’t made an official decision, his comments have sparked concerns across the F1 community. The Dutchman, already a three-time world champion, has previously stated that he’s not interested in chasing records if the enjoyment of racing fades.

For now, Verstappen remains focused on the current season, but the FIA will likely keep a close watch on how this situation unfolds, especially given the impact his departure could have on the sport.
