Is Selena Gomez’s Striking Medal a Reflection of True Talent or a Fashionable Prop?

Selena Gomez stepped out in New York City after her and the cast of her quirky French musical film Emilia Perez received a coveted French honor on Thursday.

Gomez, 32, stars in the Spanish-language crime comedy about a brutal cartel leader who fakes their own death in order to transition into a woman.

The Jacques Audiard-directed film also features performances by Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe SaldanaEdgar Ramirez and Adriana Paz.

Gomez and the rest of the Emilia Perez cast were awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres at Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education, in New York.

The honor is given to individuals whose art, literature or other creative works have made a ‘significant contribution to the enrichment of French cultural inheritance.’

It was awarded to them by Villa Albertine director, Mohamed Bouabdallah, who is French Culture Diplomat to the United Status.

Gomez has had a busy week in NYC — with Emilia Perez premiering at the New York Film Festival on Monday

For the event at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in Manhattan, the brunette beauty hit the red carpet in a skintight black halter dress that showed off her noticeably slimmed down figure — fueling Ozempic speculation.

Selena’s brown hair was styled in a sleek bun and her makeup artist gave her fierce liner for the occasion.

Like Thursday, she was again joined by co-stars Zoe Saldana, Adriana Paz, Karla Sofia Gascon and Edgar Ramirez.

Selena stars as Jessi Del Monte, a transgender Mexican cartel leader’s wife, in Jacques Audiard’s critically-acclaimed film hitting select theaters November 1 before streaming November 13 on Netflix.

‘Making this film was worth all the blood, sweat and tears,’ Gomez – who boasts 648.8M social media followers – gushed last week.

‘I am extremely proud of this project, Jacques, @karsiagascon @zoesaldana @adytapaz @edgarramirez25 (the entire family) and cannot wait for you all to see it! This movie changed my life!’

Emilia Pérez currently has a ‘certified fresh’ 87% critic approval rating (out of 63 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film made its U.S. premiere at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival last month after taking home a major prize at its world premiere at Cannes in May.

During her NYC stay, Selena also attended Sabrina Carpenter’s sold-out Short n’ Sweet Tour concert at Madison Square Garden.

Selena sparked controversy when a video of herself dancing seductively on hunky Emilia Pérez co-star Edgar during the concert went viral.

Concerned fans thought the video was a sign that Selena’s relationship with music producer Benny Blanco, 36, was in trouble.

But Selena shutdown the wild speculation on Tuesday.

She did so by sharing a new clip of her and Edgar dancing at another concert, which she humorously captioned: ‘Omg how dare I dance with my bestie.’

Selena confirmed her romance with Benny in December 2023 after secretly dating the musician for five months.

Since then, Selena has heavily featured Benny on her social media and he was her date to the 2024 Emmy Awards last month.

The couple have been hit with engagement rumors since Selena emerged in LA in August wearing a ring on her wedding finger.
